David Silva and Edin Dzeko scored either side of half-time as 10-man Manchester City edged to a 2-0 victory over Hull City at KC Stadium.

Spain international Silva put the visitors into a 14th-minute lead after Vincent Kompany had been issued with a straight red for a foul on Nikica Jelavic before Dzeko sealed three points on the stroke of full-time.

And there was plenty of praise for City’s resilient performance from the professionals on Twitter, and here is a selection of our favourite posts in chronological order.

City captain Vincent Kompany ‏(@VincentKompany) feels harshly treated by the referee: “Proud of the guys! Phenomenal shift they have put in again! Hull 0 – 2 City. Not saying it is or it isn’t a sending off. Here’s for you to judge. I remain proud as ever of my team’s performance! #MCFC”
