Who’s playing? Oxlade-Chamberlain forgets about Man City v Chelsea
Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain forgets about Manchester City's showdown with Chelsea after Arsenal beat Crystal Palace
They say that one of the keys to success in football is to focus on your own game and not pay too much attention to your rivals’ fortunes.
And it seems that Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain has been living by that principal after the midfielder fired Arsenal to victory over Crystal Palace on Sunday.
Manchester City host Chelsea in the Premier League on Monday night knowing that a victory can hoist them back above Arsenal to the top of the Premier League table.
But the blockbuster game appears to have escaped the attentions of Oxlade-Chamberlain, if his post-match interview with Sky Sports is anything to go by.
“Who’s playing?” man-of-the-match Oxlade-Chamberlain replied when asked if he would be watching the showdown on Monday, before being reminded of the fixture by the reporter.
“Yeah of course, I’ll definitely be watching that. Obviously they are two rivals at the top of the table for us.
“I should have known that – that’s poor from me really.
“I’ll definitely be watching and it’s going to be key but we can’t worry too much about other people’s results, we’ve just got to keep focused on ourselves and that’s the best thing we can do.”
