Arsene Wenger sends message to Arsenal fans about Alexis Sanchez

Arsene Wenger is confident that Alexis Sanchez will stay at Arsenal and commit his future to the north London club.

The Chile international’s future at The Emirates has been a source of speculation in recent weeks after both he and Mesut Ozil entered into the final 15 months of their contracts.

Sanchez is yet to commit himself to signing a new contract with the Gunners but was quoted in the Chilean media as having said that he would be happy to see out his current deal at The Emirates.

Wenger was asked directly about Sanchez’s latest quotes at his media conference at Arsenal’s London Colney training ground on Thursday morning.

Asked how he interpreted Sanchez’s comments, Wenger replied: “In a very positive way. There is only one team in London, so he’s happy!

“I have not a lot to add. I think personally he is happy here. It is true that we have not extended his contract yet. I hope that he will stay at the club.

“He said he wants to win the championship and that’s what everyone wants and I can understand that completely.”

Wenger is currently preparing his side for their crunch Premier League clash against Manchester City at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The north London side are facing a battle to climb back into the top four after a dismal run of four defeats in five Premier League games left them sixth in the table.
