Alexis Sanchez breaks silence about Arsenal future after misunderstanding question
Alexis Sanchez appeared to open up about his Arsenal future in the wake of the FA Cup final win over Chelsea
Alexis Sanchez has appeared to indicate that he doesn’t know about his Arsenal future after the Chilean seemed to misunderstand a reporter’s question after the FA Cup final.
Sanchez was named man of the match as he helped Arsenal seal a thrilling 2-1 win over Chelsea at Wembley as the Gunners ended the campaign on a high by winning the FA Cup for the third time in four years.
The 28-year-old has been in sparkling form for Arsenal this season and has scored 30 goals in all competitions for the north London side.
The forward’s future has been a relentless source of speculation in recent months because his current deal is set to expire at the end of next season.
And Sanchez appeared to open up about his Arsenal future as he seemed to misunderstand a question when speaking to BBC Sport after Saturday’s game.
Asked if he felt his early goal meant that it would be a good day for Arsenal, Sanchez – who only speaks minimal English – replied:
“I don’t know my friend, finished now, so happy for the win and the FA Cup, happy for the players, now I don’t know.
“My agent speaking after… I don’t know.
“Now, it’s the Confederations [Cup], now it’s focusing on the national team.”
