Andre Villas-Boas hails new signings as Tottenham down Swansea
Andre Villas-Boas admits his delight at the instant impact his summer signings have made Tottenham edge past Swansea

Andre Villas-Boas has admitted his delight at the instant impact his summer signings have made after watching Tottenham edge past Swansea to maintain their 100 per cent start to the season.
A Roberto Soldado penalty once again proved the difference as Spurs sealed a 1-0 victory over the Swans at White Hart Lane following last weekend’s win at Crystal Palace.
Soldado is one of four new faces to have arrived at the club this summer, along with Nacer Chadli, Paulinho and Etienne Capoue.
And Villas-Boas was full of praise for his new arrivals following their second win of the campaign.
“For a team that hasn’t had a lot of time to train, the knowledge of the game that they have, the technical qualities that they have enabled them to play like this with such less time together,” said Villas-Boas, whose side face north London rivals Arsenal next Sunday.
“I think all of these additions are really showing quality, plus they have brought to the team and the players a new mentality, we look sharper and have a greater will to win.”
The Portuguese coach also singled out the “explosive” Andros Townsend for special praise following impressive displays against Dinamo Tbilisi and Swansea.
“I think when he receives the ball with space he has one objective, which is to take on the man and beat the man,” Villas-Boas continued.
“He’s really adding to our game because he brings that light and spark into our game.
“He’s a very explosive player, we gave him the opportunity bearing in mind what he did against Dinamo Tbilisi and I think he took it very, very well.”
