Antonio Conte urged to spend big on Chelsea summer signings
David Provan believes Chelsea need to invest heavily this summer to compete on two fronts next season

Chelsea need to invest heavily to bolster their squad if Antonio Conte’s side are to compete successfully on two fronts next season, according to David Provan.
Chelsea are sitting 10 points clear at the top of the Premier League table thanks to a run of one defeat in their last 22 games in the English top flight.
The Premier League leaders don’t have the distraction of European competition this season after failing to finish in the Premier League’s top four last term.
Indeed, the west London side brought in Conte after Chelsea ended up in tenth place in the table following a disappointing defence of their top-flight crown.
Chelsea won the Champions League for the first time in 2012 after a penalty shootout victory over Bundesliga giants Bayern Munich at the Allianz Arena.
The Blues also reached the 2008 final in Moscow before losing to Premier League rivals Manchester United on penalties in the final.
Former Celtic player Provan warned Conte that significant investment is needed if Chelsea are two compete for the Premier League and the Champions League next term.
“They need a bigger squad. It’s quite remarkable the team picks itself – he’s got an either or with Fabregas and Matic. Next season will be a different challenge. They’ll want to win the Champions League next season and they’ll need to spend heavily to do it,” Provan told Sky Sports News HQ.
