Dutch Coach Bert van Marwijk has refused to call up a replacement for Bayern Munich winger Arjen Robben despite him picking up a hamstring injury in their friendly with Hungary.

Robben scored twice in Holland’s thumping 6-1 win on Saturday but suffered small tear to his left hamstring.

And despite admitting the injury usually takes four to six weeks to heal, the former Chelsea man said he hoped to be back on the field in three.

“Today I had the scan and it’s just a small tear in my left hamstring. It’s the first time I have a injury on that spot of my leg,” he told Studio Voetbal.

“If I just let it heal than I’m back on the field in four to six weeks, but we don’t have so much time.

“I’m going to fight till I drop.”

The Dutch were drawn in a group with Denmark, Japan and Cameroon and are widely expected to reach the knockout stages.

And van Markwijk is willing to gamble that his star winger will be nursed back to fitness for the later stages of the competition.
