Arsenal 1 Man City 1: Manuel Pellegrini feels that his side did enough to win after Emirates Stadium draw
Manuel Pellegrini felt Manchester City did enough to beat Arsenal after his side were held to a draw at Emirates Stadium.
The Citizens took the lead at Emirates Stadium when the ball ricocheted in off David Silva in the 18th minute.
Arsenal didn’t really have many chances. If a team deserved to win it was us
But Mathieu Flamini fired home in the 53rd minute to earn a point for Arsene Wenger’s men, as City closed the gap on second-placed Liverpool to a point with a game in hand.
“I think it’s a good point because we played two games away against Manchester United and Arsenal this week and four points from six against two big teams is not bad,” Pellegrini told Sky Sports.
“I feel also that we needed a bit more luck today. We could have won the game because before they scored we had a clear chance to make it 2-0. And after that we had another chance.
“Arsenal didn’t really have many chances – just a goal. If a team deserved to win it was us.”
Pellegrini also insisted that the Arsene Wenger’s Gunners are still in the hunt to win the title this season.
“Liverpool are one point ahead of us in the table at this moment,” said Pellegrini. “It will depend on what Liverpool do tomorrow [against Tottenham].
“The most important thing is that we keep depending on what can do now until the end of the season.
“I always said that this will be a very close Premier League, with three or four teams fighting until the end for the title.
“I think that Arsenal still have the chance to fight for the title. We’ll see which team does best from now until the end.”
