Gary Neville was not particularly impressed by Victor Moses’ performance for Chelsea in the Blues’ 2-2 draw with Arsenal in the Premier League on Wednesday night.

The Nigeria international started the game at right wing-back but failed to make much of an impact going forward for Antonio Conte’s side, despite coming up against Arsenal youngster Ainsley Maitland-Niles.

Conte had seen enough by the 56th minute and opted to bring Moses off for Davide Zappacosta.

Neville, speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, admitted that he was not surprised to see Moses taken off by Conte soon after half-time.

Neville said: “I’m not surprised at that one [Moses coming off for Zappacosta in the 56th minute.

“I do think that he missed the opportunity to go up and hit Maitland-Niles one on one two many times, Victor Moses.

“Antonio Conte will have wanted that youngster tested defensively.”

Jack Wilshere gave Arsenal the lead in the 63rd minute at The Emirates with a brilliant close-range finish, but Chelsea were level soon after when Eden Hazard converted his penalty.

Marcos Alonso then thought he had won it for the Blues when he finished from close range in the 84th minute.

But it was Hector Bellerin who had the final say, when he drilled home a fine finish in the second minute of stoppage time.

Chelsea return to FA Cup action on Saturday when they take on Norwich City in the third round.
