Ray Parlour reacts to Arsenal’s 2-0 win over Chelsea
The Gunners legend is feeling confident that Arsenal can finish in the top four after Saturday's 2-0 win over Chelsea FC
Ray Parlour appeared to back Arsenal to finish in the top four on Twitter after Saturday evening’s 2-0 win against Chelsea FC on Saturday evening.
Alexandre Lacazette broke the deadlock in the first half in sensational style when the Arsenal striker showed superb ball control before the Frenchman placed a finish past Kepa.
The Gunners were by far the better team in the opening 45 minutes and the home side capitalised on their advantage when Laurent Koscielny managed to guide the ball in Chelsea FC’s net to double their lead.
Pedro Rodriguez and Marcos Alonso both came close in the opening 45 minutes but the Gunners managed to survive the two scares.
Maurizio Sarri brought on former Arsenal striker Olivier Giroud in the second half but the France international couldn’t score against his old club at The Emirates.
The only negative was Hector Bellerin’s second-half injury and the Spanish full-back looked in considerable pain when he was replaced by Mohamed Elneny.
Former Arsenal midfielder Parlour appeared to back the Gunners to finish in the Champions League spots after the retired England international included “#Top4finish” in his tweet following their 2-0 win.
Parlour wrote on Twitter: “Great win @Arsenal much needed 3pts #Top4finish.”
Arsenal moved to within three points of fourth-placed Chelsea FC following their 2-0 win over the west London rivals on Saturday evening.
Meanwhile, Arsenal legend Lauren also reacted to the result on social media, writing: “Onwards and upwards! A great birthday present from my boys in red! 🔴⚪🎂🍾.”
Manchester United are level on points with Arsenal after Ole Gunnar Solskjaer’s side won their sixth successive Premier League game thanks to a 2-1 win over Brighton.
