Gary Neville believes both Arsenal and Tottenham Hotspur deserved a point after Sunday’s 2-2 draw in the north London derby on Sunday evening.

Spurs broke the deadlock in the first half thanks to Christian Eriksen’s goal after the Denmark international pounced on the loose ball after Bernd Leno couldn’t hold onto Erik Lamela’s shot.

Tottenham doubled their advantage in the 40th minute when Harry Kane scored a brilliant penalty after Granit Xhaka brought down Spurs striker Son Heung-min inside Leno’s area.

Alexandre Lacazette offered the home side some hope heading into the break when the French striker halved the deficit with a brilliant solo goal in the first minute of added time at The Emirates.

Last season’s golden boot winner Pierre Emerick-Aubameyang equalised in the 70th minute with a toe poke past France goalkeeper Hugo Lloris.

Former Manchester United defender Neville felt both Arsenal and Tottenham warranted a point from the north London derby on Sunday evening.

“It was a wonderful game,” Neville told Sky Sports. “It really was.

“There was a lot of questions about Spurs but they answered them.

“It was a big last 45 minutes for them. Both teams will be proud of their efforts in terms of what they’ve give.”

Arsenal are in fifth place in the Premier League table and five points adrift of leaders Liverpool FC.

Tottenham will take on Crystal Palace in their next Premier League fixture on Saturday 14 September before Arsenal travel to Watford a day later.

The Gunners haven’t finished in the top four in the last three seasons.
