Arsenal 3 Man City 0: Aaron Ramsey hails the Gunners' winning mentality as the north Londoners lift the Community Shield
Aaron Ramsey hailed Arsenal’s winning mentality after his goal helped the Gunners beat Manchester City to win Community Shield at Wembley.
The Gunners took the lead in the 21st minute thanks to Santi Cazorla’s low shot and went two up when Ramsey fired home in the 42nd minute.
We really get on, we really want to work hard for each other
City came close in the second half when Stevan Jovetic had a header hit a post and a shot saved, before Olivier Giroud’s dipping 25-yard strike secured victory for Arsene Wenger’s men.
“The atmosphere in the camp is the best since I’ve been at Arsenal,” Ramsey, 23, told BT Sport.
“We really get on, we really want to work hard for each other, everybody’s in it together. The club is on the up now.
“Everybody’s excited. Everybody’s really excited to see Sanchez play and hopefully he’ll have a really good season in the Premier League.
“After we won the FA Cup, this club is on the up. Hopefully now we can continue the success and go on to be very successful in the coming years.”
Ramsey, who scored 16 goals in all competitions last season, also praised Wenger for sticking by him.
“He’s been massive. He’s always believed in me even through the dark periods, he’s always played me.
“I’m grateful that he’s given me opportunities and I hope that I’m repaying him now.”
