Arsenal 4 Norwich 1: Arsene Wenger describes Jack Wilshere’s opening goal as one of the best he has ever seen
Arsene Wenger described Jack Wilshere’s opening goal against Norwich City as one of the best he has ever seen as Arsenal boss.
Wilshere and Olivier Giroud exchanged a number of brilliant intricate passes in the 18th minute before the midfielder tucked away his shot to send the Gunners on their way to victory at Emirates Stadium.
Mesut Ozil then doubled the home side’s lead with well-taken header in the 58th minute, before Jonny Howson pulled one back for the visitors.
But Aaron Ramsey scored a delightful third and Ozil netted again to wrap up an impressive win and send Arsenal back to the top of the Premier League table.
“The first goal was one of the best [I’ve seen],” said Wenger.
“It’s a combination of skill, speed of reaction and coolness in front of goal. The speed of combinations is absolutely amazing and I think this goal will be seen by many people.”
Wenger was delighted by his side’s overall display but praised Chris Hughton’s Norwich, who were impressive in spells at The Emirates.
“We had periods where we were absolutely outstanding and periods where we suffered as well because Norwich worked very hard,” he said.
“We scored a fantastic first goal and after that every goal we scored was absolutely amazing.
“We took advantage of Norwich getting tired in the last 20 minutes in a very clinical way.
“Their goalkeeper made some fantastic saves but you have to give credit to Norwich as well, they made it difficult for us.”
