Arsenal handed Barcelona test for second season running

Arsenal have been drawn against Barcelona in the last 16 of the Champions League.

Arsene Wenger’s side will meet Pep Guardiola’s Spanish champions in the knock-out stages for the second season running after the two teams went head-to-head in last season’s quarter-finals.

Barcelona, who overcame Arsenal with a 4-1 drubbing at the Camp Nou in that tie, also got the better of the gunners in the 2006 final. The first leg will be played at Emirates Stadium on 16 February.

“It is a tough draw for us,” said Arsenal secretary David Miles. “But given that Barcelona got the better of us last year we feel that the time is right and that we can turn the tables this time.

Elsewhere, Tottenham will return to the San Siro after they were paired against AC Milan, with the first game at the San Siro. Manchester United play French side Marseille, while Chelsea have been handed a tie with Danish outfit FC Copenhagen.
