Arsenal and Chelsea FC are ready to go to battle over the signature of Real Madrid playmaker Isco, according to a report in England.

The Sun is reporting that the London duo are both interested in the Spain international following a difficult spell for the attacking midfielder at The Bernabeu.

The same article suggests that Arsenal could be the perfect destination for Isco given the continued success of his compatriot Unai Emery at The Emirates.

Arsenal were 4-2 winners against Tottenham in the north London derby last Sunday to continue his revolution at the Emirates Stadium since replacing Arsene Wenger.

Furthermore, Isco was handed his professional debut by Emery during their time together at La Liga side Valencia, with a potential reunion on the cards.

According to the same story, Chelsea FC is another option for the three-time Champions League winner, throwing up the possibility of Eden Hazard and Isco on either wing.

The Sun report goes on to add that Tottenham Hotspur could also be an alternative destination for the Spanish midfielder given Mauricio Pochettino has worked in La Liga.

Isco has scored one goal and has made two assists in five starts and five substitute appearances in La Liga this season as Real Madrid continue to toil in the Spanish title race.

Both Arsenal and Chelsea FC are looking to finish in the Premier League’s top four this season.

The Gunners have not qualified for the Champions League for the last two seasons running and they opted to bring in Unai Emery as Arsene Wenger’s successor at The Emirates last summer.

Emery is aiming to make a significant impact at The Emirates after having been brought in and chosen as the man to steer Arsenal back to the top of English football following Wenger’s multi-decade reign at the north London club.

Arsenal know that winning the Europa League this season is another possible route into next season’s Champions League, with the Gunners having been knocked out at the semi-final stage of last season’s competition.

Chelsea FC, too, are aiming to break back into the top four this term. The Blues ended up fifth in the Premier League table and won the FA Cup last season under Antonio Conte, before the Italian was sacked and replaced by Maurizio Sarri in the summer.
