Paul Merson states his prediction for Arsenal v Huddersfield
The Arsenal legend is tipping the Gunners to ease to a 3-1 win against Huddersfield Town on Saturday afternoon
Paul Merson is backing Arsenal to ease to a 3-0 win against Huddersfield Town at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners have come through a challenging week in the Premier League following games against Tottenham Hotspur and Manchester United.
Arsenal were 4-2 winners against Spurs at The Emirates last weekend after Unai Emery’s men came from 2-1 behind to seal three points thanks to an impressive second-half performance.
The north London outfit squandered the lead twice at Old Trafford on Wednesday night after Arsenal were held to a 2-2 draw with Manchester United.
The Gunners are in fifth place in the Premier League table but level on points with Chelsea FC, who occupy the final Champions League spot.
Arsenal can hoist themselves above Chelsea FC with a win against Huddersfield before Maurizio Sarri’s side host Manchester City at Stamford Bridge on Saturday evening.
Former Arsenal star Merson believes Emery’s side will ease to a resounding win against Huddersfield at The Emirates.
“Will Mesut Ozil return for Arsenal this weekend? I don’t see Unai Emery bringing him back in now as Arsenal will try to play in the same vein as they did against Tottenham and Manchester United,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“Huddersfield were bang unlucky against Bournemouth and I also thought they were unlucky against Brighton with Steve Mounie’s sending off. However, I don’t see anything but an Arsenal win. They will have too much for David Wagner’s side at the Emirates.”
Arsenal are unbeaten in 10 games against Huddersfield following eight victories and two draws.
Worryingly for the visitors, Arsenal were 5-0 winners in this fixture in the 2017-18 season under Arsene Wenger.
The Gunners are unbeaten in 20 games in all competitions following their 2-2 draw with Jose Mourinho’s side on Wednesday night.
Arsenal haven’t finished in the top four in the last two seasons.
