Arsenal in talks to sign Borussia Dortmund star – report

Arsenal are in negotiations with Borussia Dortmund to sign defender Neven Subotic this summer, according to reports.

Italian journalist Emanuele Giulianelli, writing in his column for Tribal Football, claims that Arsene Wenger has singled out the Dortmund man as his top defensive transfer target this summer.

The same report goes on to say that Dortmund have admitted that they are in negotiations with an English club, and that Arsenal are his main suitors.

The 27-year-old Serbia international was limited to 11 appearances in all competitions for Dortmund last season as he struggled with a series of injuries.

Arsenal have been linked with a host of players in the summer transfer window as Wenger looks to revamp his squad ahead of next season.

However, despite all of the speculation, the north London side have thus far only recruited midfielder Granit Xhaka and forward Takuma Asano.

The reports linking Arsenal with Subotic likely signals Wenger’s intention to add a quality centre-half to compete with the likes of Per Mertesacker and Gabriel Paulista for a place alongside Laurent Koscielny next season.
