Arsenal are waiting for a response from Monaco after the Gunners upped their bid to sign midfielder Thomas Lemar to £40m, according to reports in the British media.
Football.london is reporting that the Gunners have increased their bid for the 21-year-old from £30m to £40m as they look to land their third signing of the summer.
Arsenal have so far only concluded deals to land Sead Kolasinac and Alexandre Lacazette and it appears that an attacking midfielder is next on Arsene Wenger’s agenda.
The same article states that French sources are expecting Arsenal’s latest offer to be turned down – but that will prompt the north London side to return with a third bid.
The article also states that Wenger is “determined” to sign Lemar this summer as he looks to bolster his squad ahead of next season.
Arsenal are set to have to make do without Champions League football next season after the Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League table last term.
The north London side did finish the season on a high, however, by beating Chelsea to win the FA Cup in the final back in May.
