Ian Wright: Alexis Sanchez should follow Liverpool FC star’s example at Arsenal
The Arsenal legend commends the attitude and application of Liverpool FC star Philippe Coutinho in comparison to Alexis Sanchez
Ian Wright has criticised Alexis Sanchez’s poor attitude at Arsenal this season.
The Chile international missed out in a proposed move to Premier League leaders Manchester City in the summer after Arsenal failed locate a replacement for the South American.
Sanchez has returned to the Arsenal team since his transfer saga in the summer but the 28-year-old’s future remains up in the air.
The former Barcelona man hasn’t signed a new deal with Arsenal and has less than seven months remaining on his current Gunners deal.
Sanchez could be sold in a cut-price deal in the January transfer window, or alternatively, the Arsenal star could leave on a free transfer next summer.
The Arsenal number seven has scored six goals and has made three assists in 18 games in all competitions this term.
Liverpool FC star Philippe Coutinho was denied a move to Barcelona in the summer despite handing in a transfer request.
The Brazilian midfielder has scored 11 goals and made seven assists in 14 starts since his return to the Reds team.
Indeed, both Coutinho and Sanchez were on the score sheet in Arsenal and Liverpool’s six-goal thriller at The Emirates on Friday night following a dramatic 3-3 draw.
Former Arsenal striker Wright was critical of Sanchez’s attitude, highlight Coutinho’s impressive Liverpool FC displays despite the disappointment of missing out in a move to Barcelona.
“Sanchez’s attitude is saying a lot about him,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“If he goes in January, I don’t see it will hurt Arsenal. He is not putting in a shift like Coutinho – or Ozil.”
