Ian Wright: What convinced Mesut Ozil to sign new Arsenal contract
The Arsenal legend believes the Gunners have promised Mesut Ozil that they will sign players to complement the German star

Ian Wright believes Arsenal have promised to sign new players to build a team around Mesut Ozil.
The Germany international put pen to paper on a long-term deal with the north London side until 2021.
Ozil has signed a lucrative new contract thought to be worth in the region of £350,000 a week.
The World Cup winner was linked with a move to Manchester United as his contract entered the final six months.
However, Ozil committed his future to Arsenal despite his team-mate Alexis Sanchez completing a move to Old Trafford.
Arsenal have signed Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan.
Former Arsenal striker Wright believes the Gunners need to sign some more players to get the best out of Ozil.
“I was very surprised when he signed. I was hoping he would sign,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“If you’re going to sign him then there must be something going forward that you are going to get players around him.”
Ozil has won three FA Cup titles in the past four seasons since his £42.5m move to La Liga giants Real Madrid in the 2013 summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old has scored four goals and has made seven assists in 24 appearances in the Premier League this term.
