Henrikh Mkhitaryan sends message to Arsenal supporters about Mesut Ozil
The new Arsenal signing is excited at the prospect of playing alongside Mesut Ozil in the Gunners team
Henrikh Mkhitaryan admits it will be fun to play alongside Arsenal midfielder Mesut Ozil.
The Armenia international completed a move to Arsenal from Manchester United on Monday evening as part of a swap deal that saw Alexis Sanchez make the switch to Old Trafford.
Mkhitaryan struggled to make a lasting impact at the Red Devils following his £30m switch from Bundesliga outfit Borussia Dortmund in the 2016 summer transfer window.
The 29-year-old will link up with World Cup winner Ozil in the Arsenal team to add even more creativity to Arsene Wenger’s midfield.
Mkhitaryan made five assists in his opening three Premier League games in the 2017-18 season, while he made 15 assists and scored 11 goals in 31 games in his final season in Bundesliga.
However, the Armenian playmaker will be team-mates with Ozil, who has earned a reputation as one of the Premier League’s top assist makers over the past four and a half seasons.
January signing Mkhitaryan spoke about his excitement at the prospect of playing alongside the Arsenal midfielder following his transfer.
“I think it will be really fun to play alongside Ozil,” Mkhitaryan told Arsenal Player.
“Everyone knows he’s a fantastic player, he’s an assist king! I look forward to it.
“[I admire] his intelligence, the way that he can understand the game, reads the game, plus the way he gives pace to the game and of course his final decision.”
Arsenal are in sixth place in the Premier League table and five points adrift of Liverpool FC, who occupy the final Champions League spot.
The Gunners haven’t won the Premier League title since 2003-04.
