Paul Merson explains how Arsenal can still have ‘great season’
The Arsenal legend believes Arsene Wenger can reflect on a successful season if the Gunners win the Europa League title

Paul Merson is confident Arsenal can still have a “great season” if Arsene Wenger leads the Gunners to Europa League glory.
The north London side have endured a miserable start to 2018 following a third-round exit at Nottingham Forest in the FA Cup.
Arsenal lost 3-0 to Premier League leaders Manchester City in the League Cup final at Wembley last weekend following goals from Sergio Aguero, Vincent Kompany and David Silva.
The Gunners had the chance to restore some pride in the Premier League at The Emirates on Thursday night but Arsenal lost 3-0 to the Citizens to leave Manchester City in sixth spot.
The north London outfit are a long way off the top-four places and have lost their last three Premier League games on the road at Bournemouth, Swansea City and Tottenham.
Arsenal still have the chance to end the season on a high note in the Europa League ahead of the Gunners’ clash against Serie A giants AC Milan in the last 16.
Former Gunners star Merson believes Wenger can still secure successful season if Arsenal win the Europa League and qualify for the Champions League.
“If they go to AC Milan and win next Thursday, and they go on and win the Europa League, for me that’s a great season for where Arsenal are at the moment,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If they win a European trophy it would be a phenomenal feat.”
Arsenal signed Borussia Dortmund striker Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang and Manchester United midfielder Henrikh Mkhitaryan in the January transfer window.
