Robert Pires names goalkeeper who should replace Petr Cech at Arsenal
The Arsenal legend believes David Ospina should replace Petr Cech in the Gunners goal

Robert Pires believes Arsenal should hand the number one spot to David Ospina when Petr Cech calls time on his Gunners career.
Arsenal have endured a difficult 2017-18 season as the Gunners missed out on a top-four finish for a second consecutive campaign.
The north London side lost 2-1 to Atletico Madrid over two legs in the Europa League semi-final to miss out on the chance to win the competition and secure a spot in next season’s Champions League.
Cech is regarded as one of the greatest goalkeepers of the Premier League era but the Czech Republic international has allowed his standards to slip in recent seasons following his move from Chelsea FC in 2014.
Colombia international Ospina has been acting as Cech’s understudy in the Premier League but Wenger has given the South American a chance to impress in the Champions League and the Europa League in recent campaigns.
Indeed, Ospina proved powerless to prevent Arsenal from losing 1-0 to Atletico Madrid in the second leg of their Europa League semi-final.
Former Arsenal star Pires believes Ospina is the right player to replace Cech in the Gunners goal long-term.
“I don’t think Arsenal need to sign anyone to replace Petr Cech because David Ospina is an excellent goalkeeper,” Pires told BetStars.
“Ospina plays well every time he gets a chance and he’s first choice for Colombia.
“Ospina has been at the club for a long time and I think he should be number 1.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last term.
