Paul Merson sends patient message to Arsenal supporters about Unai Emery
The Arsenal legend believes the Gunners will have to show patience with their new manager Unai Emery

Paul Merson has warned Arsenal that Unai Emery will take time to implement his methods.
The Gunners appointed the Spanish head coach as Arsene Wenger’s replacement at the end of the 2017-18 season.
Emery wasted no time leaving his mark on the Arsenal squad following the arrival of five new players.
The former Sevilla manager has been tasked with leading the Gunners back into the top four after missing out on a Champions League spot last term.
However, Arsenal suffered a 2-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Manchester City at the Emirates Stadium last weekend.
The Gunners attempted and failed to play the ball out from the back, a tactic which was exploited by the Citizens.
Former Arsenal star Merson leapt to the defence of Emery following their loss to Manchester City.
“It’s going to take time,” Merson told Sky Sports’ The Debate. “The criticism was a little harsh. He probably saw it as a free swing.”
Arsenal finished in sixth spot in the Premier League table last term to miss out on a Champions League place in successive seasons.
The Gunners signed Stephan Lichtsteiner, Bernd Leno, Sokratis Papastathopoulos, Lucas Torreira and Matteo Guendouzi in the summer.
