Arsenal legend Thierry Henry has netted more than 160,000 followers just three hours after officially joining Twitter on Monday.

The former Gunners captain, who is the north London club’s all-time record goal-scorer, joined the popular social network on Monday afternoon and sparked a following frenzy.

Henry’s first post on the site was retweeted more than 12,000 times.

Celebrity Arsenal fan Piers Morgan and Barcelona midfielder Cesc Fabregas were among the users to welcome the 36-year-old striker to the website.

Henry was recently confirmed as one of the BBC’s pundits for the forthcoming World Cup in Brazil.

The Frenchman is currently following 13 people himself, including Cesc Fabregas, Robin van Persie, and Arsenal’s official account.
