Jamie Carragher reacts to Philippe Coutinho’s goal in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw at Arsenal
The Liverpool legend singles out Philippe Coutinho for special praise after the Brazilian's opener at The Emirates

Jamie Carragher heaped praise on Philippe Coutinho for a “deft” header in Liverpool’s 3-3 draw against Arsenal at the Emirates Stadium on Friday night.
The Brazil international has been linked with a move to La Liga leaders Barcelona with the January transfer window just around the corner.
Coutinho made the trip to north London following an incredible return of 10 goals and seven assists in 13 starts in all competitions this season.
And the 25-year-old capitalised on Liverpool FC’s dominant start to the Premier League clash with the opening goal at the Emirates Stadium.
Mohamed Salah was allowed to make progress into the penalty area before the Egypt international’s cross was met by Coutinho, who glanced a header past Arsenal goalkeeper Petr Cech.
Former Liverpool FC defender Carragher felt that Coutinho deserved credit for an outstanding finish to score his 11th goal in all competitions this term.
“This is the problem for teams coming up against Liverpool,” Carragher told Sky Sports.
“Salah runs off the back of the defender and finds himself against the centre-half.
“Coutinho had a little bit of luck but it was a deft header. He just cushions the header. It is a great finish over the man the size of Cech in goal.”
Salah extended Liverpool’s lead before Alexis Sanchez, Granit Xhaka and Mesut Ozil all scored in quick succession to give Arsenal a 3-2 lead.
Firmino, though, spared his side’s blushes with an equaliser.
Coutinho scored 13 times and made seven assists in 31 appearances in the Premier League last season as the Reds finished in the top four.
