Lukasz Fabianski has warned Wojciech Szczesny that he is ready to battle to win the spot as Arsenal’s No1 goalkeeper.

The 28-year-old temporarily replaced Szczesny in Arsene Wenger’s starting line-up earlier in the season and helped the Gunners to five wins from five games before a rib injury consigned him to the sidelines.

Szczesny, who started all of Arsenal’s Premier League games last season, earned praise for his second-half save to deny Loic Remy in Arsenal’s 1-0 victory at Queens Park Rangers on Saturday.

But his fellow Poland international Fabianski insists he is determined to prove his worth and win back his spot in the side.

“I’m hoping that it’s going to go my way,” Fabianski told Arsenal Player. “I’m feeling really positive about it [the battle to be No1]. I feel that I’m a better keeper than I was, I feel really confident in myself.

“I put in a lot of work to be fit again, to be stronger. I’m not worried about anything and I think I’ve made a statement that I’m up for it.

“It’s just getting that feeling of playing good again, getting the result and that always gives you a positive feeling about yourself for the next game.”
