Paul Merson believes Arsenal will ease to a resounding 4-0 win against Newcastle United at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
The Gunners are winless in their last three Premier League games to lose ground on their top-four rivals following a mixed season so far.
The north London side lost 3-1 to title rivals Manchester United at The Emirates earlier this month following goals from Jesse Lingard and Antonio Valencia.
Arsenal rescued a point last weekend following Olivier Giroud’s late equaliser in a 1-1 draw with Southampton at St Mary’s.
Premier League strugglers West Ham managed to hold the Gunners to a goalless stalemate at the London Stadium on Wednesday night.
Arsenal are in seventh place in the Premier League table but are only one point behind Tottenham Hotspur in fourth spot.
Former Gunners midfielder Merson believes Arsenal will ease to a commanding 4-0 win against Newcastle United at the Emirates Stadium on Saturday afternoon.
“I expect them to win this game,” Merson told Sky Sports.
“If they could have handpicked any team to play it would be Newcastle, who have completely gone.
“Why have Arsenal done well at home and not away? Because it’s easier to play at home. You have a lot of the ball and teams come and play a different way. The teams that win trophies go away from home and stand up and win games.”
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season to miss out on a spot in the Champions League in 2017-18 campaign.
The Gunners won the FA Cup for the third time in four seasons back in May following a 2-1 win over defending champions Chelsea.
