Arsene Wenger has admitted that he has been thrilled by how well Alexandre Lacazette has settled into life at Arsenal – and then challenged him to score his first away goal for the Gunners.

The French striker joined the north London side from Lyon back in the summer transfer window and he has made a strong start to life in an Arsenal shirt.

The 26-year-old continued his fine form on Monday night when he scored both of the north London side’s goals in their 2-0 victory over West Brom at The Emirates.

Lacazette has now scored four goals in six Premier League outings for his new club and he seems to be settling in well to life in England, but he has only netted at The Emirates so far.

And Wenger admits that he has been pleasantly surprised by how quickly Lacazette has got used to life in London.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Monday night, Wenger said: “He gets stronger in every game. Good first touch and movement.

“He is young and just arrived in England. The physical demands are very high.”

He added: “He has found confidence and I believe he is adapting quickly to the demands of the Premier League. I think it’s quite positive.

“Now he has to score away from home, but he was unlucky as well away to Stoke I must say.

“Overall it’s a good sign that he keeps scoring at home.”

Arsenal take on BATE Borisov in the Europa League on Thursday night before returning to Premier League action with a home clash against Brighton at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.

The Gunners are now seventh in the Premier League table and six points behind leaders Manchester City after six games of the new campaign.

Arsenal have not won the Premier League since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
