A defiant Arsene Wenger has insisted that Arsenal will do everything they can to bounce back to winning ways when they take on Brighton on Sunday.

Wenger was heaped under more pressure on Thursday night when his Arsenal team were beaten 3-0 by Manchester City for the second game running in less than a week.

The Gunners were thoroughly outplayed in front of their home fans as they slumped to a disappointing defeat at The Emirates on Thursday night in the Premier League, just days after their 3-0 League Cup final loss to the Citizens.

The result dealt another damaging blow to Arsenal’s hopes of finishing in the top four this season, with Wenger’s men currently in sixth place in the table and a staggering 10 points behind fourth-placed Tottenham Hotspur.

Arsenal do not have long to lick their wounds, as they now turn their attentions towards their trip to Brighton and Hove Albion on Sunday lunchtime.

However, Wenger was as defiant as ever as he delivered his thoughts in the wake of Arsenal’s loss to Manchester City.

Speaking at his post-match news conference on Thursday night, Wenger said: “We want to focus on the next game and continue the effort we put in tonight.

“We’ve played twice against the best team in the country and it’s difficult for us, especially when it was not a good performance in the first game, but we have quality and want to show that.”

He added: “You don’t expect fans to be euphoric after losing 3-0. We have to earn the fans by the quality of our performance. It has to come from us.”

Arsenal have not won the Premier League title since the 2003-04 campaign and they finished fifth last season.
