Leon Osman believes that the signing of Pierre-Emerick Aubameyang would show that Arsenal are not a selling club.

The Gunners have been heavily linked with a move to bring the 28-year-old striker to The Emirates this month as Arsene Wenger looks to further bolster his attacking options before Wednesday’s transfer deadline.

Arsenal have already been busy in the January transfer window by offloading Alexis Sanchez, Theo Walcott and Francis Coquelin.

They have also brought in Henrikh Mkhitaryan as part of the same deal for Sanchez to move to Manchester United earlier this month.

The north London side have been attracting a lot of criticism for their failure to tie down the likes of Sanchez and Mesut Ozil to new contracts at The Emirates.

And former Everton star Osman believes that it is key for the Gunners to keep strengthening their squad.

Speaking on Sky Sports News on Monday morning, Osman said: “Arsene Wenger paid a lot of money for Alexandre Lacazette in the summer and he hasn’t quite scored the number of goals Wenger was expecting.

“They need to get this deal [for Aubameyang] done to show that they are a team who wants to bring players in instead of slipping into being a selling club.”

Meanwhile, Arsenal are currently preparing for their Premier League trip to Swansea City on Tuesday night, a game in which Mkhitaryan could make his debut for the Gunners.

The north London side are currently sixth in the table as they chase Champions League qualification for next season.
