Jamie Carragher reacts to Nicolas Pepe’s display in Arsenal’s loss to Liverpool FC
Jamie Carragher has his say on Nicolas Pepe's display in Arsenal's 3-1 loss to Liverpool FC

Jamie Carragher has admitted that he was very impressed by Nicolas Pepe’s performance in Arsenal’s 3-1 defeat by Liverpool FC in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
The Ivory Coast international was handed his first Premier League start of the season on Saturday night as Unai Emery decided to play the 24-year-old from the off.
Pepe was a constant threat for the Gunners in attack but was unable to find his first goal in an Arsenal shirt as the Gunners ended up slumping to a disappointing defeat at Anfield.
The winger will be looking to adapt to the rigours of the Premier League as quickly as possible following his club-record move to The Emirates from Lille earlier this month.
And former Liverpool FC defender Carragher was clearly impressed by what he saw from Pepe during the clash at Anfield on Saturday evening.
Speaking during Sky Sports‘ coverage of the game, Carragher said: “He looked dangerous, Pepe.
“He should take encouragement from that because it’s a tough place to come to away at Anfield.
“There will be easier opposition over the next few years but against the best defence in the Premier League last season he’s certainly given them something to worry about.”
Pepe is likely to get his first taste of a north London derby next weekend when the Gunners host local rivals Tottenham Hotspur at The Emirates on Sunday afternoon.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League last term and have taken six points from their first three games this time around.
