Carlo Cudicini: Petr Cech will be Chelsea FC’s ‘enemy’ in Arsenal clash
Carlo Cudicini feels that Petr Cech will be Chelsea FC's "enemy" in the Europa League final against Arsenal
Carlo Cudicini believes that Petr Cech will be Chelsea FC’s “enemy” in their Europa League final showdown with Arsenal next week.
The Gunners are preparing to take on the Blues in Baku in the final showdown as they look to beat the west London side and secure their place in next season’s Champions League.
The game will be Cech’s final chance to make an appearance after he announced that he will be retiring at the end of the season.
Cech was Chelsea FC’s number one goalkeeper for many seasons, but former goalkeeper Cudicini feels that the shot-stopper will be the Blues’ “enemy” this time around.
Speaking in an interview quoted by Sky Sports, Cudicini said: “It’s a big match for Petr, it’s his last match at the end of an unbelievable career and his last chance to win a trophy.”
“Also he will play against a club which has been an important part of his life and career.
“It’s a huge, huge match for Petr but he is a professional and he is intelligent.
“For sure all of these things will play an emotional part for him but once you are on the pitch, you forget everything and you play to win the trophy – Petr will do that.
“For us (Chelsea) he is obviously an enemy for 90 or 120 minutes, for however long we are on the pitch.”
Arsenal head into the game after having finished in fifth place in the Premier League table and missing out on Champions League qualification.
The Gunners know that if they beat the Blues in Baku on Wednesday night, they will secure their spot in the Champions League for next season.
Chelsea FC have already secured their spot in the Champions League for next season by finishing in third place in the Premier League table under Maurizio Sarri.
