David Luiz has insisted that he is relishing his new challenge at Arsenal after choosing to leave Chelsea FC to sign for the Gunners.

The Brazilian defender made his first start of the season for the north London side on Saturday afternoon when he helped Arsenal claim a 2-1 win over Burnley at The Emirates in the Premier League.

The 32-year-old paired Sokratis Papastathopoulos in central defence for the Gunners as Unai Emery’s men made it two wins from two in the English top flight.

David Luiz is settling into life on the other side of London after having opted to leave Stamford Bridge and join the Blues’ local rivals.

And the Brazil international has insisted that he is delighted to be playing for the Gunners and is aiming to help them win silverware this season.

Speaking in an interview with BT Sport after Saturday’s win, David Luiz said: “It’s a new challenge for me.

“It was my decision to try and make a new story of my life. I am so happy to be here because, since the first day, the welcome was amazing from everybody.

“I’m going to try and do my best to achieve amazing things like I did with Chelsea.”

Arsenal will return to Premier League action next weekend with a tricky trip to Anfield to take on Liverpool FC.

The north London side have won their two opening games of the Premier League season for the first time in 10 years this term.

He continued: “I think it is always important in the Premier League, every game is not easy, so I think we did well.

“We did amazingly at Newcastle because it is never easy to get points there and we did amazingly today, also.

“I think we need to keep our feet on the ground, keep humble, keep working hard every single day because we have an amazing team but we have to think about improving every day. We have to take it step by step and then in the end we’re going to see.”

The Gunners are aiming to break back into the top four after having finished fifth last season.
