Arsenal’s new technical director sends message to Gunners fans
Edu expresses his delight at being named as Arsenal's new technical director this week

Edu has expressed his delight at being named as Arsenal’s new technical director.
The former Brazil international was officially confirmed as the north London club’s new technical director on Tuesday after having been linked with the position for some time.
Edu, a former Arsenal star who was a member of the famous Invincibles team, will fly to the United States with the first team squad on Thursday as the Gunners prepare for their pre-season tour.
In his new role, 41-year-old will coordinate the work of the first-team coaching group, the academy and player scouting and recruitment.
Speaking in an interview with Arsenal’s website, Edu said: “Arsenal has always had a special place in my heart and I’m thrilled to be returning to this great club in this new role.
“We have a strong squad and some very talented young players with fantastic people at every level. I’m looking forward to helping make a difference.”
Arsenal fans will be hoping to see Edu have a quick impact in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners have so far only signed one player – 18-year-old Brazilian Gabriel Martinelli from Ituano.
Arsenal are looking to strengthen their squad this summer after they finished in fifth place in the Premier League table and without a trophy last term.
The north London side reached the Europa League final but ended up losing 4-1 to Chelsea FC back in May.
