Arsene Wenger has admitted that Henrikh Mkhitaryan will have to improve his form in front of goal following his transfer to Arsenal from Manchester United this week.
The Armenia international has put pen to paper on a long-term contract with the Gunners after moving to The Emirates as part of the deal which saw Alexis Sanchez head in the other direction.
The 29-year-old joins Arsenal after having fallen out of favour at Manchester United under Jose Mourinho this season.
The playmaker had started the season strongly but his form tailed off in recent months as he struggled to hold down a regular spot in the first team.
Mkhitaryan has scored one goal and made five assists in the Premier League for Manchester United so far this season.
And Wenger has admitted that Mkhitaryan could do with improving his form in front of goal following his move to Arsenal.
Wenger told Arsenal’s website: “Maybe where he’s a bit short is on goal-scoring but he has improved that.
“If you look at the number of goals he’s scored in his career, it’s quite impressive overall.”
Arsenal, who are sixth in the Premier League table, are currently preparing for the second leg of their League Cup semi-final clash against Chelsea at The Emirates on Wednesday night.
The two sides played out a goalless draw in the first leg at Stamford Bridge earlier this month.
