Martin Keown: Why Alexis Sanchez won’t sulk at Arsenal
The Gunners legend doesn't expect Alexis Sanchez to cause trouble at Arsenal in the 2017-18 season

Martin Keown believes Alexis Sanchez won’t sulk at Arsenal despite the disappointment of Chile missing out on a place in the World Cup.
Chile missed out on a place in the World Cup playoffs at the expense of their rivals Peru mid-week to make Sanchez one noticeable absentee from next summer’s major tournament in Russia.
The South American was heavily linked with a move to Manchester City in the summer but a deal failed to materialise.
Sanchez’s proposed move fell through on deadline day following Arsenal’s failure to bring in Thomas Lemar from AS Monaco.
The 28-year-old has already entered the final 12 months of his Arsenal contract and the forward isn’t expected to sign a new deal.
Sanchez will be available on a free transfer next summer unless Arsenal manage to strike an agreement with the Gunners forward.
Reports in the British media suggest Arsenal could finally grant Sanchez his move in the January transfer window.
Former Arsenal defender Keown doesn’t expect Sanchez to down tools in the coming months despite uncertainty around his future.
“Sanchez is a lion who wants to play football and I do not expect him to sulk,” Keown told the Daily Mail.
Sanchez, who wasn’t in the Arsenal squad for the 2-1 loss to Crystal Palace on Saturday, scored 24 times in 37 appearances in the Premier League last term.
