Ian Wright claims 26-year-old is the man Arsenal have been missing
Ian Wright explains why he's such a big fan of Arsenal striker Alexandre Lacazette
Ian Wright has lavished praise on Alexandre Lacazette and believes that the striker could be the “predator” Arsenal have been missing in recent seasons.
The Gunners moved quickly to snap up the 26-year-old forward from Lyon back in July as Arsene Wenger bolstered his attacking options at The Emirates.
Lacazette has earned plenty of praise for the strong start he has made to life at The Emirates, with the forward having scored six goals in 11 games in the Premier League so far this term.
Wenger was criticised for not opting to start Lacazette for Arsenal’s 3-1 loss to Manchester City before the international break, with the striker having come off the bench to score the Gunners’ goal in the second half.
Arsenal legend Wright has revealed that he is a huge fan of the forward – and then told Wenger that he should be starting every single game.
Speaking to Premier League Productions, Wright said: “Lacazette I feel is a fantastic signing if you’re going to play him then play him continuously.
“If I had him in my squad he would start literally every game. he takes half chances, he finishes well with both feet and I think now he is ready to be let loose. The more he plays, the more consistently he plays for the duration of games the more goals he is going to score.
“He’s that predator in the box Arsenal have been missing for many years.”
Lacazette will be hoping to feature for Arsenal when the Gunners take on Tottenham on Saturday in their crunch north London derby clash at The Emirates.
The Gunners head into that game in sixth place in the Premier League table and 12 points behind leaders Manchester City.
