Ian Wright makes ‘vulnerable’ Arsenal claim about Alexis Sanchez
The Arsenal legend believes Alexis Sanchez can leave Arsene Wenger's side exposed in big games
Ian Wright has claimed that Alexis Sanchez leaves the Arsenal team in a vulnerable position in their biggest Premier League games.
The Gunners forward was left out of the Arsenal team in their goalless draw at defending Premier League champions Chelsea.
The north London side produced one of their better performances in against their traditional rivals following a 4-0 loss to Liverpool earlier this month.
Sanchez has faced an uncertain future at the Emirates Stadium over the past 12 months amid interest from Manchester City in the Chile international.
The 28-year-old scored 24 times in 37 games in the Premier League last season but couldn’t help the Gunners finish in the top four.
Former Arsenal striker Wright has claimed that the Gunners look like a more resilient team when Sanchez isn’t included in the starting line-up.
“What you find with Sanchez is when he gets the ball, he tries to take on two or three people,” Wright told BBC Radio 5 Live.
“When he does lose the ball, Arsenal are often at their most vulnerable. Arsenal have players getting forward to support Sanchez.”
Arsenal signed Sanchez in a £35m deal from Barcelona in the 2014 summer transfer window.
The Gunners forward was thought to be on the brink of a £40m switch to title rivals Manchester City but a deal fell through on deadline day.
