Michael Owen has his say after Arsenal confirm the signing of Alexandre Lacazette from Lyon
Michael Owen has taken to social media to claim that Alexandre Lacazette is exactly the player Arsenal have been missing.
The Gunners confirmed the signing of the France international on Wednesday after weeks of speculation linking the 26-year-old with a switch to The Emirates.
Former Liverpool and Manchester United striker Owen has been one of Arsenal’s most public critics in recent seasons.
However, the former England star seems to believe that Lacazette, who scored 37 goals in all competitions for Lyon last season, is just the kind of player Arsene Wenger needed to bring in.
Reacting to the news of Arsenal’s latest signing, Owen wrote on Twitter: “Just what Arsenal needed. #GoalMachine”
Arsenal are currently beginning their pre-season preparations as Wenger looks to lead the north London side to a Premier League title challenge next season.
The Gunners finished fifth in the Premier League last term but managed to end the campaign on a high by beating Chelsea in the FA Cup final.
Nevertheless, Arsenal will play in the Europa League next season after missing out on a top-four finish.
