Nuno Espirito Santo has refused to be drawn on speculation linking him with the Arsenal manager’s job.

The Wolves boss has been touted as a possible candidate to take over from Unai Emery at The Emirates if the Gunners opt to part company with the Spanish head coach.

The 45-year-old led Wolves into the Premier League two seasons ago and they claimed a spot in the Europa League for this season after they ended up seventh last term.

Emery has found himself under intense pressure at The Emirates in recent weeks following his Arsenal side’s lack of consistent form.

Indeed, the Gunners have only won four of their opening 13 games in the Premier League to leave them eight points adrift of the top four and facing a real battle to seal Champions League qualification.

Nuno was asked about the speculation linking him with the Arsenal job on Wednesday but he refused to give anything away.

Responding to a question about the Arsenal rumours, Nuno is quoted as saying by Metro: “I think you know me well enough and you know that I’m not going to answer about that.

“I will never mention an issue that’s not a reality. Mainly because the job has a manager in it. It would be disrespectful.”

Asked whether he is happy at Wolves, he added: “I think we are doing OK.

“It requires a lot of work and every day is a chance to improve and this is what we want to do all together.

“[The links] are not a distraction. You know me. I don’t talk about ifs, I don’t talk about possibilities, I don’t talk about things that are not real.”

Arsenal will attempt to get back to winning ways in the Premier League on Sunday afternoon when they travel to Norwich City in the top flight.
