Ray Parlour has urged Aaron Ramsey to commit his future to Arsenal by signing a new contract with the Gunners.
The Wales midfielder’s future has been a source of uncertainty in recent months after he entered into the final year of his contract at the north London club.
Ramsey is believed to be in talks with the Gunners about extending his current deal with the north London side beyond the summer of 2019, but there is yet to be an official announcement about his future.
The midfielder played the full 90 minutes as he helped the Gunners to claim a 3-1 win over West Ham United in the Premier League on Saturday afternoon.
Parlour admits that he would love to see Ramsey commit his long-term future to Arsenal by signing a new contract with the north London side.
Speaking in an interview with the Daily Star, Parlour said: “Good luck to him with whatever he wants to do but I hope he stays because he’s a very important player.
“He’s been there a long time, he does love the club, he does his best he can for the club and he scores some vital goals in cup competitions.
“Let’s hope they can get an agreement and I’m sure Arsenal don’t want to lose Aaron so I’m sure there will be an agreement along the way.”
Ramsey will be hoping to help Arsenal make it back to back wins in the Premier League next weekend when the Gunners travel to Cardiff City on Sunday.
The north London side are aiming to at least break back into the top four this season after finishing sixth last term.
