Thierry Henry explains how Arsenal can turn their season around
Thierry Henry explains why he thinks Arsenal should not be written off in the race for a top-four finish this season
Thierry Henry believes that winning the League Cup could help to inspire Arsenal back into the top four this season.
The Gunners have been struggling to find consistent form in the Premier League in recent weeks and they slumped to a disappointing 3-1 loss to Swansea City in the top flight at the Liberty Stadium on Tuesday night.
That result left Arsene Wenger’s men a considerable distance adrift of the top four as they look to try and secure qualification for next season’s Champions League.
One of the positives for the Gunners in recent weeks was their League Cup semi-final win over Chelsea FC as they set up a showdown with Manchester City in the Wembley final later this month.
And former Arsenal star Henry feels that the north London side can kick-start their season by beating Manchester City to win the League Cup title this term.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Henry said: “If they can manage to win the final and bring some players and carry that momentum…
“Obviously we all know it’s a bit much to win the league now but they still need to try and make the top four.
“What you do is try to build from a trophy [the League Cup] half-way through a season.
“They are still showing us they can compete again. They’re showing us that they can, now they have to do it more often.”
Meanwhile, Arsenal are preparing to try and return to winning ways in the Premier League when they host Everton at The Emirates on Saturday afternoon.
Should they miss out on a top-four finish this term, the north London side still have the possibility of qualifying for the Champions League by winning the Europa League.
