Tim Sherwood explain what Arsenal must do in the summer transfer window
Tim Sherwood delivers his assessment on what Arsenal need to do this summer
Tim Sherwood believes that Arsenal need to move on from Arsene Wenger and shake up their squad in the summer transfer window.
The Gunners suffered yet another disappointing blow on Sunday when they were thoroughly outplayed by Manchester City and beaten 3-0 in the League Cup final at Wembley.
Arsenal have been struggling to find consistent form this season in all competitions and they currently find themselves in sixth place in the Premier League table and way off the pace in the race for Champions League qualification.
The north London side have already had to make do without a place in the Champions League this season and it looks increasingly likely that will happen again.
And former Tottenham manager Sherwood feels that the Gunners are probably going to have to make some radical changes in the summer transfer window.
Speaking to Sky Sports, Sherwood said: “The players are not good enough to challenge for the Premier League title.
“The Arsenal fans want a team to challenge but they’re miles away from that at the moment. They need more players, different types of players, a better balance to their squad, and they need a new voice.
“I love Arsene Wenger and I love what he’s done for that football club and I’d always support him as much as I can, but I think they’ve run out of time. They need a new voice. And the players need a new voice. x
“Sometimes you listen to the same voice too many times and you can listen to him all you want if you’re winning, but when you start losing, you need to change the voice.”
Arsenal return to Premier League action on Thursday night when they take on Manchester City in front of their home fans at The Emirates.
The Gunners have not won the Premier League title since their famous unbeaten triumph in the 2003-04 campaign.
Arsenal finished in fifth place in the Premier League table last season but won the FA Cup.
