Sky Sports reporter delivers update on Arsenal January transfer plans
Dharmesh Sheth delivers an update on Arsenal's January transfer plans ahead of the new year
Arsenal will look to do some business in January if the right deals become available, according to Sky Sports reporter Dharmesh Sheth.
The north London side have made something of a solid start to the new season under Unai Emery following his appointment as Arsene Wenger’s successor at The Emirates back in May.
Arsenal have only lost three games in the Premier League so far this season and currently find themselves in fifth place in the table as they chase Champions League qualification.
There is a general sense that Arsenal have been making good progress under Emery so far this season as they look to try and establish themselves as contenders for the top four.
They did face the disappointment of being knocked out of the League Cup at the hands of bitter local rivals Tottenham Hotspur on Wednesday night when they lost 2-0 at The Emirates.
There is likely to be plenty of speculation linking Arsenal with a number of signings in the coming weeks and months as the January transfer window draws nearer.
Now, Sky Sports reporter Sheth has indicated that he thinks the Gunners will try and bring in some reinforcements, if the right deals become available.
Speaking on the Sky Sports Transfer Talk podcast, Sheth said: “If something comes up in January, maybe they will do some business.
“They would be looking at the defence. Players recover from injuries. Will they bring in someone for the short term? They are in the mix for the top four.
“Would an extra defender help them secure a top-four position?”
Arsenal will return to Premier League action on Saturday when they host Burnley at The Emirates.
