Olivier Giroud says he is very confident that he can improve his Arsenal goal tally in the striker’s second Premier League campaign.

The Gunners forward, 26, scored a respectable 17 goals in 46 appearances in all competitions for Arsene Wenger’s side this term.

Despite a solid return following his £9.6m move from Montpellier, Giroud has still come in for criticism as the France international struggled to fill the void left by Robin van Persie’s exit.

But Giroud pointed to Didier Drogba and Thierry Henry, who both struggled to impress in their first season in England before cementing their status as Premier League greats, and vowed to be even better next season.

“For me it’s a good season,” Giroud told Arsenal’s website.

“I’ve scored 17 times and got 10 assists. I’m happy with that statistic but I think I can improve my game and my relationship with my team-mates.

“I’m sure that next season will be better. I always want to improve myself so I’m very confident for next year. For the first season, it’s not been so bad.

“For a first season in a league like the Premier League, it’s never easy to play very well, like Didier Drogba or Thierry Henry.

“I was always looking for the Premier League, the atmosphere around the football, how the English live it and it’s wonderful for me.

“I was ready for it and I’ve really enjoyed my life in London and at the club. I wanted to show that I feel very well here. I want to keep going and doing my best.”
