‘Arsenal need Theo Walcott to give Gunners extra dimension & variety’
Arsenal need Theo Walcott back in their starting line-up to give them an extra dimension, according to Jamie Redknapp
Jamie Redknapp believes Arsenal need Theo Walcott back from injury to provide the Gunners with an “extra dimension and some variety”.
The Gunners appeared to run out of ideas in the closing stages of a 1-0 loss to defending Premier League champions Manchester United at Old Trafford on Sunday.
Wenger has been forced to rely on strikers Olivier Giroud and Nicklas Bendtner after Lukas Podolski, Alex Oxlade-Chamberlain and Walcott have all been hit by injuries.
And former Tottenham Hotspur midfielder Redknapp reckons Arsenal particularly miss the pace and trickery of England international Walcott.
“The international break comes at a good time for Arsenal,” Redknapp is quoted as saying in the Daily Mail.
“They need Theo Walcott back to give them an extra dimension and some variety. But they are top of the league and Chelsea and Manchester City didn’t win this weekend, either.
“They will be happy with their work at this stage of the season and this result should not change that. It was a big win for David Moyes and a result like this will make him feel more at home.
“It is becoming ‘his’ United now. I wrote last week that if they were to win, then suddenly they are in the mix too. And now they are.”
