Arsenal have held discussions with potential Argentina World Cup star – report
Arsenal are interested in a deal to sign Argentina international Cristian Pavon, according to a report
Arsenal have held talks with Boca Juniors star Cristan Pavon about a move to north London, according to a report in Argentina.
The Daily Mirror is quoting reports in Argentina that suggest the Gunners have made an approach to sign the Boca midfielder ahead of the major tournament in Russia.
The same article states that new Arsenal manager Unai Emery is keen to improve his midfield options and Pavon could be a potential candidate to improve the Arsenal team.
According to the same story, Pavon’s representatives have held discussions with Arsenal and their London rivals Chelsea FC ahead of a potential move.
The 22-year-old scored six goals and made 11 assists in 26 games for Boca Juniors in their domestic league in 2018.
Pavon, who is a diminutive 5ft 6ins, has amassed five caps for the Argentina international team ahead of the Russia World Cup later this month.
Arsenal signed Switzerland captain Stephan Lichtsteiner in a free transfer from Serie A champions Juventus last week to land their first signing of the Emery era.
The Spanish head coach took over the reins from Arsene Wenger last month after the French boss stood down as manager.
