Arsenal eye promising 20-year-old Bundesliga defender – report
Arsenal are looking at RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano as a potential summer recruit, according to a report in England

Arsenal are looking at RB Leipzig defender Dayot Upamecano as a potential signing to bolster their back four this summer, according to a report in England.
The Daily Mirror is reporting that Arsenal are considering a potential move to sign the 20-year-old should a deal for FC Barcelona centre-half Samuel Umtiti prove too expensive for the north London side.
The same article states that the Gunners have sent scouts to watch the RB Leipzig star as Upamecano impressed for France’s Under-20 side in a 3-0 victory over Belgium at the start of the week.
According to the same story, the Europa League runners-up will have to make a tempting offer for the French talent given RB Leipzig aren’t looking to sell the promising defender in the 2019 summer transfer window.
The same article goes on to suggest that Upamecano could still be lured to Arsenal despite their failure to qualify for next season’s Champions League, unlike his current employers RB Leipzig.
Upamecano made 15 appearances in the Bundesliga last term as RB Leipzig managed to keep the best defensive record in the German top flight.
They conceded a mere 29 goals in 34 games to secure a top three finish and a place in the Champions League next term.
