Arsenal suffer setback in bid to sign 25-year-old from FC Barcelona – report
Arsenal look set to miss out on a move to sign Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona this month, say reports
Arsenal’s proposed move to sign Denis Suarez from FC Barcelona this month looks in doubt after talks between the two clubs broke down, according to reports in the British media.
ESPN is reporting that Suarez now looks set to stay at the Spanish side until the end of the season after the north London club failed to reach an agreement with the La Liga giants.
According to the same story, FC Barcelona are seeking a transfer fee of around €20m (£17.4m) for Suarez in a permanent switch, but Arsenal were keen on a loan deal until the end of the season.
The same story says that FC Barcelona would be open to loaning the 25-year-old until the end of the season, but only if the deal included an obligatory option to buy him on a permanent basis in the summer.
The article goes on to claim that Suarez is now happy to stay at FC Barcelona until the end of the season at least, despite his significant lack of playing time this campaign.
Suarez has only made two substitute appearances in La Liga for FC Barcelona, notching up just 17 minutes of top-flight action for the Spanish side so far this season.
Meanwhile, Arsenal are preparing to host Manchester United in the fourth round of the FA Cup at The Emirates on Friday night.
